Voices of Christ Literary Ministries International was founded on December 31, 2000 in Atlanta, Georgia. God gave birth to the ministry at 11:58PM during a watch-night service at a local church. Two-minutes before the congregation rang in the New Year, Prophetess Theresa Johnson heard the phrase, Voices of Christ, in her spirit. Voices of Christ was originally known as, The Voices of Christ Prophetic Poetry Team. It was an evangelistic poetry ministry of a church that vocalized the gospel through poetry and spoken word. It began with four people from different churches in the community who met Prophetess Johnson supernaturally. She soon began teaching on varying subjects relating to writing in 2002 as the ministry of VOC grew. It was also during this time that she began writing articles specifically to empower and encourage scribes; and to educate others concerning the power of what many scribes believed to be an overlooked and under utilized ministry in the local church. In 2003, VOC held its first weekend writing retreat called, The Prophetic Writing Intensive.

In 2004, the ministry shifted as her pastor released the church to new leadership and began a ministerial fellowship for pastors. Voices of Christ moved under the covering of that newly formed fellowship. Just prior to this transition, the Lord changed the ministry's name to Voices of Christ Literary Ministries International and begin birthing the vision for its new direction, and The Scribal Anointing Series. It was during this year, that the teaching ministry of VOC began ascending to new heights in the Father. In 2005, Voices of Christ hosted its second writing retreat entitled, "The 2005 Christian Prophetic Poetry Writer's Retreat." The event met with many obstacles.

VOC members pulled together to make it one of the most memorable events in VOC history. It was during this season that the Lord began to release prophetic words specifically targeting His prophetic writers in scribal ministry. During this same year, Prophetess Johnson met Apostles Henry & Tonita Patterson through their online ministry, "Salt & Fire." It was through this ministry that the Apostles encouraged her to launch out in what the Lord had called her to do with a greater level of boldness. The Salt and Fire Network provided an opportunity to connect with men and women of God around the world, and it introduced her to the power of social networking and online mentoring.

A whole new world opened up to Voices of Christ. It was during this season that The Scribal Anointing Online Group was launched, and divine connections were made. As a result, five ministers from varying parts of the nation joined forces with the ministry to become VOC Directors in their regions. In 2006, VOC began its first leaders training program and the Lord completed work on The Scribal Anointing, The Scribal Companion, and began birthing the foundation for the book Spiritually Critiquing. This was a year of great mobilization for Voices of Christ. In 2007, the Core Team of Directors was installed at the 2007 Christian Prophetic Poet's & Writer's Retreat. Participants came from across the nation.

The VOC Family experienced a powerful transition in the spirit and the vision the Lord had birth just three years prior had come to pass. During this retreat, words of prophecy from the VOC directors and key ministry supporters gave birth to the finished book, Spiritually Critiquing Literary Works. It was also a year of great unity and knitting in the Spirit. The Lord also mobilized the leaders of VOC to teach and carry the vision. In addition, we partnered with other ministries in the worship arts that are not in competition with us; but that have a heart for working together for the common good of all. So I send a shout out to Pastor Troy, of the Poetry in the Light Family, and to Apostles Henry & Tonita Patterson, of It Is Written Ministry. VOC thanks God for you! In 2008, VOC began reviewing all of the prophetic words spoken over the ministry from the time of its inception until the present. We have seen the words spoken by prophets nearly nine years ago come to pass in such a short, yet accelerated amount of time. The lives of HUNDREDS of men and women across the nation and abroad have been impacted by the power of God that is upon this ministry. We receive letters, testimonies, and even pleas from those who constantly intercede on our behalf and thank God for what this ministry (God's vision) has released into their lives.
